Comparison between Blogger and Wordpress:

Blogger is completely free unless you want a custom domain also known as top level domain (e.g. www.xyz.com).

While wordpress has limitations like you can't modify your template(theme). Some templates are Premium, you have to buy them before using. It also charges for some more stuff that blogger/google provides for free.

Wordpress can delete your blog anytime if the content is not acceptable to them or violates the Terms of Service.

Wordpress offers simple, clear, lucid Statistics, but you can't underestimate blogger stats.

Tagging service of Wordpress has a high hand. you can use as many tags you want. Tags are the keywords you'll use so that search engines can index your blog. Wordpress automatically submits those tags to various search engines.

You have complete access to the html of your blog. Curios to know what is HTML of any blog. Go to any blog/site, right click somewhere on the empty space and then click on the "View Page Source". You got it. Thats the html code. Wordpress don't allow you to modify it, but in blogger modifications can be done easily. Example.

Last but not the least, you can place Ads on blogger blog even if its a subdomain(eg. xyz.blogspot.com) and earn some extra bucks but wordpress never allows you to place ads on blogs like xyz.wordpress.com You have to buy a custom domain(.com, .org, .me), even after that you can't go for Ad service other than their own WordAds.
